As my nephew Ben used to say at the ripe old age of 4, "Well, I've got some good news, and some bad news."
The bad news is that I've discovered one of those delightful pregnancy side effects that they don't mention in "What to Expect When You're Expecting." A quick primer: if you've had chicken pox, the virus that causes it now lives in your nerve cells and can flare up at any time to cause shingles. It's more likely to happen at times when your immune system is suppressed: when you are stressed, elderly, or pregnant. And if you're extra special, it will keep flaring up unless you stay on prophylactic meds through the rest of pregnancy. Lucky me.
The good news is I felt the baby move last night. Chris felt it too. Awesome.

Darn that suppressed immune system! That is what killed me as a pregnant woman! Good luck!
Feeling the baby move is so fun... it makes it seem a little more real!
Boo for the shingles. But a HUGE YEAH for feeling the baby! That is definitely my favorite part of being pregnant. You are so lucky that Chris got to feel it too.
I am counting down the days until your ultrasound. I can't wait to hear if it's a boy or a girl! :)
...miss you.
Oh no!
But yay for feeling the baby move. That is one of my favorite things when pregnant - especially in the 2nd trimester when it's all still so small. :)
On a tangent - your mention of "What to Expect" made me remember how many times I referenced it during my pregnancy with Jonathan and even got the next two books (first year and toddler years). :) But now I find myself preferring the books by Dr Sears. The ones I've read from him are focused on older children but I've heard great things about his pregnancy-related books - "The Pregnancy Book" and "The Birth Book," etc. I remember you were more research-minded like me (I still love to read medical journal studies - fun stuff) so if you are interested in adding a little to your reading list I'd highly checking those out. :)
